Erica from TUAW found an ingenious way to essentially have your iPhone lojacked so you know roughly where the coordinates are. In brief, it periodically submits the location of the nearest cell phone tower and updates it via twitter instead of SMS. Found this link reading a thread on InternetTabletTalk where I am researching the Nokia N800, a gadget I am most likely going to buy.
