New theme: Imhotep

First of, let's define who Imhotep was:

Imhotep was chief architect to the Third Dynasty King Djoser (2687-2668 BC). He is the first master architect we know by name, and was in charge of building the original step pyramid at Saqqara. This pyramid also set a precedent by including a collection of temples, pavilions, corridors, chapels and halls within the enclosure walls.

I'll let you figure out why I decided to name my theme Imhotep :)

Demo: click here
Download: click here (1.01)
Instructions: Unzip and drop imhotep folder into wp-content/themes then activate

Notes: None, just a stock theme. Please check the demo url for the stock version of the theme. The one being shown on ATN is my personal modified version :)

Also, the blog header image was made with a camera set to 10 second exposure, then I took a flashlight and wrote the word blog in the air :)

Cool theme. I like the colors you used here.

BTW, how did you made that “blog” header image?

SEXY!!! I’m a huge fan of the blog logo - how did you create the effect?

Lol, I’m not the first person to ask that (I didn’t read the previous comment until just now).

Looks jazzy to me. Nice, I like the gradients and the header image.

I thought imhotep was a priest from The Mummy?

Cool. I thought it was Photoshopped. It was at RHCP’s Fortune Faded video when I saw something like that.

Great theme, and I like your technique of writing the header text! Thought it was some graphics brush.

    Really beautiful theme.

What’s the procedure for adding new menu items?

Hi, I’m using your IMHOTEP theme for my blog. I’m new with word press and I wanted to know how you edit your theme so that the other categories for links that I put in is shown in my blog? I put in a new category but the link shows up in just one heading called LINKS.

Also, how do I put in the “recent posts” portion on the side bar?

    Would appreciate your help.

    Thanks!

The Recent Post is a plugin gotten from http://meidell.dk/. The Link section outputs all links from all categories sorted by last updated. If you want to change the way it outputs the links, you can go here, read the parameters and go to line 14 of sidebar.php and change it to your liking.

    Hope this helps.

I’ve just started with wordpress, so I’m a bit skull-numb, forgive me. In your template, which I’ve added to my site, the “home” link in the header defaults to a *.com/demo/ page, rather then to the front page. I don’t have a /demo/ page, so this links to nowhere.

Am I missing something, and is there an easy fix?

Also, curiously, Parent and child “pages” will indent in the sidebar for IE, but parent and child catagories are all placed in line. Is this an IE problem, or a design in the template?

    Either way, nice design!

Download the newest zip, it shouldn’t default to /demo/. Also, if you wanted to fix it, just open header.php with a text editing program like notepad and go to line 53 and change the url so it points correctly.

And the second one is a design in the template. I don’t like it the other way :P

I’ve got a question about having more posts than the page displays.

Isn’t there an option to show “previous posts” or something? Or is that not part of this template? I have like 15 posts this month lets say, but only 6 show per page. Even when I show the archive, I only get 6 and the other 9 are lost and not accessible?

    Did I miss something?
