So tonight I went to a debut.

I went to Marlises' debut tonight, which is one of those filipino events for girls when they turn 18. Funny how males never get anything special but that's how life is. Makes me sad
A debut is basically a big BIG birthday party for a female when she turns 18. Not to mention the INCREDIBLE amounts of free food there was but the entry was a birthday gift so it all works all. Their cake is HUGE and it costs a couple hundred dollars, I think I stared at it for a good minute or two before I realized there was this little decoration down on the bottom. Here's another shot of the cake up close
The event started out with everyone meeting each other and generally chit chat like most parties.
Originally we had around 7-8 people going but since they ended up having work, they couldn't come. It ended up being only me, marc, amanda and elaine. The picture only shows everyone minus elaine since she wander off to talk to some other friends. We had none so we talked to ourselves. (Coldstone crew represent :D)Oh yeah, that picture is our "sophisticated look." We asked some guy at our table to take pictures with all of our cameras so we had a Fob look, some other silly look and this one. Yes, we were bored.
They started off the event with a slideshow of her life and I think all of my friends agreed when we say she is photogenic. Every single one of her pictures turned out really nice since she has the best smile in the world. Then after that, we had the candles and roses where 18 guys would give her a rose each and then have a waltz with her. It was funny since I don't think most of them knew how to waltz. One guy just held hands and was like two feet apart from her just sort of….waddling. Some were creative, some were downright stupid. Marc, was normal (thank god). After that it was 18 candles which were 18 females taking their turns and going up to Marlise and saying something nice to her. Like the rose, some were downright stupid which was pathetic since this is complimenting her and if you can't think of anything to say…that's pretty bad. Some were emotional. Amanda and Elaine, thank god again, said something sweet.
After that, it was basically dancing time, the tables were pushed back and the dancing started. Let's just not talk about that. Oh of course, I needed to take a picture of Marlise before I left so there it is. I tower over her (O_o), but look at that smile! Her's not mine!
This was my first time taking out the camera for actual use and I think I did a crappy job. I turned off flash for most of them cause it gave that red-eye look plus it messed up the color for most of the pictures. I need to learn how to use manual mode better so I can give it in more light in the future to brighten up my photos. Or I could photoshop it and just brighten up the photos in there. We will see, I want to get into photography as a hobby now since it looks so fun and the perfect picture every once in a while is so rewarding.
